Against All Odds

Collaboration Campaign

The campaign, titled “Against all Odds,” is a dynamic initiative meticulously crafted to inspire and motivate young South African women. Focused on illuminating the remarkable stories of influential women from the apartheid era, the campaign seeks to kindle a flame of empowerment and determination within its target audience. At its core, the campaign aims to convey a central message encapsulated in the concept of “Against all Odds”—a powerful template emphasizing that, irrespective of circumstances, one can triumph over challenges to achieve their goals. This theme underscores resilience, perseverance, and determination as pivotal elements for success, drawing inspiration from the stories of women who defied societal norms during the apartheid era.Visually, the posters are a harmonious blend of striking aesthetics and profound meaning. Embracing the iconic black-and-white photography style synonymous with the Apartheid Museum’s historical significance, the design captures a timeless essence. Infused with vibrant accent colours drawn from African culture, the posters emanate energy and vibrancy. The deliberate use of colours associated with South Africa’s official languages not only celebrates diversity but also fosters inclusivity. Through the inclusion of different languages and cultural elements, the campaign provides a platform for individuals from various backgrounds to connect, fostering a sense of relatability and connection within the narrative.

Team members: Samantha Gottschalk (Graphic Design), Roxanne Bau, and Joshua Voges (both Digital Design).
